Cheese-Stuffed Monkey Bread

Suzanne Cowden

Yum

Monkey bread, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I think monkey bread might be the worlds greatest food invention. It’s crazy easy to make, is appropriate for pretty much every occasion, and can be customized in countless ways.

Suzanne’s version is a personal favorite of mine. Homemade dough stuffed with cheese and salami and drenched in a slightly spicy, herbaceous oil. This would be perfect for Easter or Mother’s Day brunch, or even as an appetizer for a bunch of March Madness fans.

If you’re feeling not so ambitious, you can easily make monkey bread with refrigerated biscuit dough.

If you want a complete meal, add cheese, pepperoni and pizza sauce to make pizza monkey bread (you can even slip in some vegetables!) or try adding taco spiced ground beef, salsa and cheese for taco flavored monkey bread.

Have a sweet tooth? Cinnamon sugar monkey bread is amazing, and so is peanut butter chocolate chip monkey bread.

Do you see what I mean? Monkey bread is the best thing ever. The next time you’re heading to a potluck, hosting a BBQ, having friends over to watch the game, making weekend brunch, or are just in need of an easy dinner, remember, monkey bread is always the answer!
