How to Trim, Cook and Eat Artichokes by Nosh On It
Artichokes are one of my favorite vegetables and so many people are afraid to try them as they don’t know how to prepare them. Vijay demystifies this spring gem so you can try them in so many recipes!!! ~Tara
With Spring comes fresh artichokes, the bulbous spiny vegetables that most people have no idea what to do with. If you’ve only ever used artichokes in a frozen or canned form, this is the year to tackle fresh artichokes because they’re that much better.
In order to use fresh artichokes, you have to trim and peel them to cut away the touch, spiky leaves to get to the meaty interior. This step-by-step guide shows you how to easily trim, peel, and cut artichokes for steaming, roasting, and grilling. And don’t forget to have a bowl of water with lemon juice nearby! Cut artichokes turn brown quickly so holding them in lemon water keeps them brightly colored.
