10 Tips to Keep Outdoor Fun Happening After the Sun Goes Down by Tales of a Mountain Family @Bonbon BreakDark comes early here.  By the time our young kids wake up from their afternoon naps, the light is fading…and quickly!  While we make an extra effort to make sure our mornings are spent outside as much as possible (even if it is 15 minutes squeezed in between school and lunch), everyone still needs to burn off some steam in the afternoon.

After growing up in Alaska (where sunlight is even more in short supply this time of the year), I have come to really love dark and peaceful snowy evenings.  Some of my favorite memories are sledding and ice skating in the dark (with flood lights and head lamps, of course!)  It’s my job to now teach my own kids that just because the sun has gone down, doesn’t mean the fun has to be brought indoors.
