You should have seen my tenth-grade class photo. I was wearing exactly five necklaces around my neck. They were wooden and hemp and beaded with rainbow colors and one was a cross. I thought that the more I wore the better it would be. Even now, in hindsight, I do not hide that photo in embarrassment. I never felt like a very stylish person, but I started to express myself in my unique way through jewelry. Necklaces and earrings were my style and I continue to be proud that I made something my own. While I no longer wear multiple necklaces, I rarely feel like an outfit is complete without an accessory around or near (large earrings!) my neck.
Styles come and go with the season, but a good necklace can last through seasons and years. Here are some great looks to add style to every outfit in your closet:
Trendy Necklaces
It is really nice to leave the house feeling like your outfit is on point. While I tend not to be able to go out and purchase a new wardrobe every time new fashion trends hit the runways, it is nice to have one or two trendy accessories to make me feel like I’ve still got it. Necklaces are a great way to bring current trends to every outfit. You can easily incorporate the fringe or chevron trend into a simple jeans and t-shirt outfit with some of these trendy necklaces.

Delicate necklaces are so beautiful and simple that they are a staple accessory. While a delicate necklace could be as simple as a chain, you can easily find a small necklace that manages to proclaim your style. My favorite delicate necklaces in my collection are a gold strand with two little birds and a silver heart necklace that my boys gave me for Christmas. You might not feel like the type of lady who wears pearls, but I would argue that every woman needs a set of pearls in her jewelry box. Pearls might not be your everyday style, but every once in a while, an opportunity comes to put on a black dress and feel incredibly classy. Don’t assume that pearls need to look one exact way. You can get a single strand necklace, a double strand, or even something a little more trendy. Plus, it is always good to have pearls nearby when you need something to clutch.
