Earring Styles for your Face Shape

For every face shape exists the perfect, most flattering earring style.  Earrings may seem a small part of your fashion styling and jewelry wardrobe, understanding your face shape will go a long way to helping you select items that flatter your face and features.

EARRING STYLES FOR YOUR FACE SHAPE

HEART FACE Shape
Heart shape faces (wider at the temples and narrow near the jaw) look amazing in large chunky earrings. The chunky earrings spotlight the lovely shape of the face. Another wonderful style is the medium length dangle. Anything that drops or dangles from the ear about ¾” to 1” compliment the cheekbones and drawing attention to where the face starts to curve toward the chin.

SQUARE FACE Shape
Long shapes and styles are perfect for the square face.  The long dangles elongate the face and flatter it’s angels.  Hoop earrings are another terrific option for the square face shape. Possibly the most versatile earring style after studs, hoops have graceful, simple curves that create a lovely contrast to the angular lines of the square face shape.

ROUND FACE Shape
Round studs are always lovely with the round shape. Round earrings are all gentle curves and soft edges that compliment the face. Also lovely are long, narrow dangles and chandeliers especially those will different shapes and colors.  The dangles help elongate the shape of the face.

OVAL FACE Shape

The oval face shape is possibly the most universal shape.  Chunky earrings soften the jaw line and compliment the cheekbones while long dangle earrings draw attention to the jaw line.  Studs draw attention to the ears and the eyes.  The oval shape can’t go wrong with any earring style.

LONG FACE Shape

Long face shapes love drop earrings and noticeable posts.  The dangles and post earrings flatter the soft, long curves of the face and draw the eye up to the cheekbones and eyes.

Earrings are one of my favorite jewelry accessories.  Often overlooked or downplayed, earrings add the perfect finishing touch to compliment the face, features, bone structure, and outfits.  In particular, earrings can update, dress up, add fun, interest, or the tone of an outfit for any occasion.
