ASK DR. G: How to Help Kids Stop Lying
Kids lie.
At almost every age, there is a developmental reason for kids to try out lying. The way kids think about the truth changes from preschooler to teen, and the ways they try to get around the facts changes too. All of that matters, and – from another point of view – none of it matters. Lying is disrespectful, and causes tons of friction in families. So the question is,
How do we teach kids not to lie?
In this video we’ll go briefly through each age group, and cover:
- Why kids that age lie.
- How to talk about it.
- What consequences are fair.
