The Love That Keeps You Married by Brenna Jennings

Someone said to me yesterday, “Love is a verb.” I also think marriage is a choice. Marriage is a promise, not a given. It’s work, but not the work you planned on. I used to wonder why people divorced after decades of marriage, what could they not have known in the first 5 years? Their limits, maybe. Their needs. People change, and marriage must change. It’s not as difficult as I might be making it sound, and it is wonderful. But marriage is not a party or a slow dance or a ring. It’s not “just like living together.” This is what my marriage looks like.
