BonBon Break is an online magazine for the modern mom. Our editors cut through the internet chaos to bring you advice, ideas, and inspiration in the forms of recipes, parenting tips, crafts, humor and more. We use our “rooms” concept to help you find your favor niches.
Our mission at BonBon Break is to introduce exceptional blogs in an easy and fun format for busy people. In addition, we are providing a place where bloggers and writers can showcase their material in a way that respects and honors their individual sites, creative rights and content.
CEO and Editor in Chief
Before Bonbon Break was conceived, Val was the creator of the sites Mental Chew and Val Unplugged. A former middle school science/math/tech teacher, she put her career on hold to be at home with her son and daughter on an island in the Pacific Northwest. When Val breaks away from her keyboard, she enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking, camping, photography, tidepooling, sailing and potlucks. She gets a kick out of combing the web for recipes and making them gluten free so she can share meals with her husband, family and friends. She is a tech-gadget geek who is poked fun at, but it doesn’t bother her a bit. Combining her love of photography, tech and graphics to create new, fun content for her sites quenches her “thirst” for integrated technology.
Creative Director and Weekly Columnist
Greg and his wife, Angela are the creative force behind the dynamic, “Angela’s Clues”. He manages to juggle most of what is thrown his way, while keeping his gals “essentially” in one piece & smiling through it all. He is a three time Emmy Award winning designer/creative director who has been a major force in developing the look for NBC’s Olympic Games, The Super Bowl, The French Open, Wimbledon and more. Most recently, Greg began Santo Studios, a boutique design studio specializing in all forms of visual communication utilizing live action, 2D and 3D for web, film, TV, print and overall brand development.
Family Room Editor
Ellie is one part genius, one part goofball and one part heart. Wearer of many hats, she has a PhD in Psychology and is mother to two small human boys and one large fur boy. As Editor of the Family Room here at Bonbon Break as well as on her personal blog, Musing Momma, Ellie is always insightful and inspiring. In her down-time, she can be found reading good fiction, cooking and baking, enjoying yoga and pilates, gardening, traveling, shopping (clothes! shoes! stuff for the house!) or doing nature walks with the kids.
Rebecca Gallagher is a SAHM to a teenager and a tweenager. A recovering aspiring actress, she laughs at herself on a daily basis. As Editor of The Bedroom, Rebecca delights our readers, just as she delights her own readers at Frugalista Blog. Rebecca has contributed to two Amazon bestsellers as well as being featured on Scary Mommy, In the Powder Room and was a one-time parent blog of the week on Huff Post. When she’s not writing, she enjoys donuts too often, and exercise too infrequently. She has an addiction to makeup and beauty products and an obsession with Daniel Craig.
Before her two children re-choreographed her life, Keesha Beckford was a professional dancer who performed in the U.S. and in Europe. Today she teaches modern and jazz dance in the Chicago area. She writes at her personal blog, Mom’s New Stage and is the Editor of The Attic, here at Bonbon Break. A multitasker at heart, she shows fierce skills at simultaneously writing, choreographing, checking Facebook and Pinterest updates, playing the role of Joan “Kumbaya” Crawford, and overcooking food. Keesha’s writing has been featured on Mamapedia, The Huffington Post, and in two bestselling anthologies.
Amelia lives with her husband, two young boys and baby girl in Yellowstone National Park. She and her family live each moment to the fullest, with the belief that life is precious. Together with her husband, she encourages adventures for their boys in the form of skiing, hiking, biking, running, camping and lots of outdoor playing. Amelia writes at Tales of a Mountain Mama in an attempt to inspire others to get outside daily too with tips and tricks, stories and lots of gear reviews and giveaways.
Jessica has been designing and developing websites since 1999, and been working almost exclusively with WordPress since 2010. She is the “CEO of Scribbles” and sometimes writer at Science of Parenthood, an illustrated humor blog, and the author and illustrator behind StoryTots, a line of personalized children’s books.
