All of it healthy. You are right though that the junk snacks given to keep kids quiet and calm is a problem. Its bad parenting. But kids need snacks. Even just a few carrots. Their bodies tell them when they are hungry.

They aren't meant to be bribes or rewards or tools to shut your kid up. They're supposed to feed your kid and get him through until dinner time. Our concept of 3 meals a day is problematic, in my opinion, because it promotes eating larger portions and gorging ourselves to make it to the next meal. Try going to a six small meal schedule and you'll see a huge difference.

Some peeps just need snacks while others can do without. There are no hard and fast rules. Make the snacks nutritious. The best things to do is feed them when they are hungry. Teach them to ask themselves if they are hungry and not eat if they aren't.
