I have a 14 year old and this post really hit home with me. We have always enjoyed being outside together but as he has entered his teens he is so involved with homework, school activities and friends that the weekend family hikes or adventures have fallen to the wayside. I agree how valuable carving out that time for your child is. And doing something in nature is the perfect place to take a step back; get a better perspective in a “calm” (no distractions or technology) environment, and just communicate.
