Unfortunately I don’t have the experience of sending a little one off to school or holding them in my lap on a beach. I do remember my own time as a kid at the beach with my sibling, which was the only time we DID get along, and my parents. It was always such a serene and magical time. Thank you for bringing me back.

It was my pleasure, Kathy! Thank you so much for letting me share. I hope your kids have a wonderful school year – and you too!

Linda, thank you so much for your kind comment! Wow – putting a kiddo on the “L”…now that would be a big step! I hope your son has a great school year. Time flies, doesn’t it?

How sweet and touching and you brought a tear to my eye! I remember those days so well. Not that my kids are out of school. Nope, just older. Old hats at this routine. Though I must admit sending my 14 year old out on his own to take the “L” to his high school in downtown Chicago was a harrowing experience … one of the most stressful days of my life … and now, as he approaches Sophomore year, it’s already old hat too!

Keep the tissues at the ready. I remember Kindergarten being a year filled with tears. Scary tears. Proud tears. How just too cute they all are at assembly tears. Seeing friendships being forged in earnest tears. My son to this day is still best friends with a number of kids he met on that very first day of Kindergarten …

Sorry for this novel of a comment. Clearly you struck a chord in me …

… oh, and so proud to be a fellow Bonbon Break original contributor this week!

🙂

Linda

We have to be as brave as they do. 🙂

I feel this way with each passing month as I get to know the layers of the little warm bodies that used to just mold onto my chest … such true words!!

Thank you for your perspective – it is true and beautiful! And Fall…yes Fall… bring it on!!

Cheers to Changes!

So amazing to share with another mom the bittersweet moments of your children growing up.

I too have always felt a mix of excitement, fear, joy and sadness as each of my babies went to kindergarten for the first time. Now I have a second grader, fourth graders and, gulp, eighth grader. Where does the time go! Wishing both your boys a great year and lots of new friends and experiences.
