I love the pictures and your obedience to the Lord! Your story really makes me question who we say is blessed. Is it us who have so much yet, like Bill Harlan said, can still be so unhappy or those who have nothing and have realized that all they need is God to have joy? I have wanted to take Cole on a mission trip thinking he needed to see poverty and hurting up close, but reading this makes me see that he would not only see those things, but happiness in the midst of them. Thanks so much for sharing!

Your pictures are beautiful! Can’t wait to hear all the details of this inspiring trip!

Materially, we have so much yet can be so unhappy because we don’t have more. The Haitians have so little yet are joyous with just being alive and having one another. Thanks for sharing your experience and heartfelt emotions.

You did a beautiful job of capturing your experience both with pictures and words. Print those pictures. Keep them by your bed. I am gathering mine together to do the same. Thank you for the inspiration and the reminder that we are all responsible for finding joy within ourselves.

Thank you so much!

My husband went to Haiti with a medical team one week after the earthquake when everything was in turmoil. The couple times we skyped, he said the same thing… “These people have absolutely nothing and they are filled with more joy than anyone I have ever met.” Perhaps we should redefine third world… It seems those with the material least have the world figured out. Be content. We have a lot to learn.
