Instagram is the only app left on my phone too. I am currently trying to “detox” myself and a friend emailed me this article, so I had to read.

When you talked about email, that really struck a chord with me, because I think that is where it may have really started with me. I used to email A LOT when I still worked (7.5 years ago!) for personal reasons. I loved getting the replies back and then that continued on with blog comments (pre FB and twitter).

Anyway, I know balance is pretty elusive. I just hope to find a way to leave SM stuff alone more and like you said, spend more time with those actually, physically close to me.

Thank you for sharing this. I think so many more people have issues with this than they are willing to admit, much like any addiction…

Period. I plug it in in the kitchen. Once I'm in bed, I do not need to check it again, it can lead to not just, oh just a quick check, but as you know, hours of FB or surfing or tweeting or, or, or. Not ok. So, phone is back in the kitchen at night. Kindle, hello, I've missed you.

I don't even have a smart phone, but I am a bit of a laptop-a-haulic. Luckily it doesn't go out of the house with me, so I am forced to disconnect .

There are many times that I will think to IM you and I remember that this is your "no contact zone" It's great and it's nice to know I am helping you reach your goal by leaving you the heck alone!

I really do need to set more limits for myself when it comes to social media and use of my phone. I think you are right, we need to spend more time engaging without distraction (not just being there) in real life interactions.
