Ask Dr. G: 5 Tricks to Stop Yelling

Do you yell at your kids?

I do. I wish I didn’t, I try not to, I feel terrible afterwards. It’s taken me years to realize that

  1. There are concrete strategies I can use so that this happens less often, and
  2. Getting yelled at occasionally will not crush my child’s spirit.

So now my goal is to…

Yell at kids less.

The more ideas and tricks I can use to communicate with my kids when I’m frustrated the less often I will raise my voice so that the neighbors know what my children apparently do not hear. I hope these tools are as useful for you as they have been for me! Will you let me know?
